PRINCIPAL - ELEMENTARY (K-6) SCHOOL
The District is built on the idea that learning needs to be hands-on, connected to the real world, and should develop not only students' academic knowledge and skills, but also their potential as creative thinkers and innovative problem solvers. The successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills and knowledge of best practices in curriculum, instruction, assessment, technology, student discipline and teacher supervision.

There are a number of non-negotiable values and traits that our new Principal must possess. We’re looking for an experienced school leader who:

 

  • First and foremost, focuses on students and their academic and personal development and success
  • Is driven to achieve ambitious and specific results with and for students; Works effectively with others to achieve what is best for students
  • Demonstrates a strong, insightful awareness of self and an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Is skilled in using data to inform instruction, adaptable and flexible
  • Is a creative, critical thinker and decision-maker
  • Possesses experience teaching in, or leading a standards-based system
Our Principal will also need the skills, background and school operations know-how to:

  • Ensure the development of a strong school culture and implementation of the District’s model that promotes high achievement for all students and prepares them for a rigorous secondary school experience
  • Supervise, develop and sustain the instructional and administrative staff
  • Collaborate with school partners to develop and implement school-specific policies and procedures that ensure the development of a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for staff and students
  • Assume responsibility for the daily and annual administrative and financial operations of the school
  • Lead the integration of community resources into an effective educational experience
  • Develop and implement strong student remediation and acceleration programs
  • Develop and implement professional development for all school staff
  • Initiate and sustain positive, supportive relationships with key stakeholders
