Kick Butts Day

PHS students participated in Kick Butts Day.  Michele Batch from UPMC was on sight to discuss the effects of smoking.  Students took the pledge to be tobacco free.  Click here to view pictures from the event.

Fatal Awareness Conference

Students from PHS SADD attended the annual Fatal Awareness conference.  Presenters included motivational speaker Adam Brooks, PA Trooper Melinda Bondarenka, and juveniles who spoke about their experiences with addiction, law violations, and paths forward regarding sobriety and other positive life changes.  PHS SADD received a leadership award for community service.

GATE Foreign Language Competition

Six students from the GATE program participated in the foreign language competition at Gateway High School.  The competition was divided into both French and Spanish teams.  Plum had participants in the French and Spanish competition.  Carter Campbell placed first in the French competition, which had a written and oral component.  The Spanish team beat the other teams in the writing competition.  They were also complimented by the Gateway Spanish teacher because Plum always scores higher in the AP Spanish test.

Both teams also complete a Latin component of the competition.  Participating schools included Gateway, Greensburg Salem, and Franklin Regional.

GATE - Art Competition

Ten students from Plum Senior High School participated in the art competition at Gateway High School.  Students were required to submit an individual art piece for judging and identify art created by famous artists during the period of Art Deco/Nouveau.  

Chloe Hall, Tori Turchick, Alexis Bruno, Jordyn Roman, and Carmen Veltri won first place team award.

Clementina Palombo, Paige Harris, Mackenzie Kieffer, Matt Hartley, and Angela Serrao won the 3rd place team award.  Angela Serrao won a third place individual.
