Principal's October Message
Dear parents and guardians of Holiday Park Elementary students, 
Pink Out Plum
This Friday, October 24, 2014, the Holiday Park Student Government is sponsoring a Pink Out Plum Day.  Students & Staff are to wear PINK to support breast cancer awareness. 
Picture Make-Up Day
Did you miss Picture Day?  Don't worry, Picture Make- Up Day is Wednesday, October 29th.  Students who did not have their picture taken will have their picture taken that day.  Order forms are in the office, if needed. 
Battle of the Books
Congratulations to all of the Holiday Park Battle of the Books teams.  We had 12 teams participate this year.  We had two teams place in the top five.  Mrs. Venanzi's Referee Readers placed 3rd and Mrs. Fridy's Cheetah Champions placed 5th out of 39 teams from the five elementary schools.  Attached is a full list of the Holiday Park Teams. 
The PTA DQ Fundraiser will be Thursday, October 23rd.  Between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00, 20% of your check will be given to the Holiday Park PTA for student programs.  A DQ fundraiser will be held each month.  Hope to see you there.

Kindle Fire Raffle
As part of the Festival in the Park, there will be a raffle for a Kindle Fire.  
Red Ribbon Week
October 27 through October 30, is Red Ribbon Week.  In efforts to stay a drug-free school, Students and Staff are encouraged to dress up in the following themes. 
Fire Safety Month
Firemen from the Holiday Park Volunteer Fire Department visited with our Kindergarten students on Monday.  The students learned about fire safety in the home and school.  They also explored a fire truck.  Pictures are posted on the Holiday Park Photos page. 
Fall Festival Parade & Party
The Fall Festival Parade will start approximately at 1:30 on Friday, October 31. 
Mrs. Haupt is a "Champion of Change"
Congratulations to Mrs. Haupt for being recognized as a 2014 teacher "Champion of Change" through the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.  
Girl's Leader Association Clothing Drive
The Sr. High's Girl's Leader Association (GLA) and the Plum Rotary are conducting a few outreach projects.  They are currently collecting gently used clothes for the Families in Appalachia and Operation Safety Net. Collection boxes are in the lobby.  Click here for a list of items needed. 
Presents For Pets
The GLA is also collecting items to help our furry friends at the Animal Rescue League.  A collection box is in the lobby.  Click here for a list of items needed.
